First Lines Friday//January 15, 2021

First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?

  • Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
  • Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
  • Finally… reveal the book!

My New Rating System

I decided that I am going to start using a more logical rating system for the books I read instead of going by how the book made me feel, and what I think it deserves to be rated as. This new system is created by G at Book Roast. She recently posted a video about how she rates her books called CAWPILE. She shares an excel document in this video as well.

WWW Wednesday//January 6, 2021

Happy almost end of December! I hope you've all enjoyed this holiday season and are keeping safe at home. I didn't find much time to read as I was busy with Christmas prep (I made a ridiculous amount of cookies!) and spent time with my family. I still have a few books that I need to get through before tomorrow night! I like to start the new year with no books halfway done or that I'm still reading.

WWW Wednesday is hosted by Taking On a World of Words. It’s a meme that takes place every Wednesday, where the posters discuss 3 Ws:

  1. What are you currently reading?
  2. What did you recently finish reading?
  3. What do you think you’ll read next?
