WWW Wednesday is hosted by Taking On a World of Words. It’s a meme that takes place every Wednesday, where the posters discuss 3 Ws:
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What do you think you’ll read next?

📚 Overdose: Heartbreak and Hope in Canada’s Opioid Crisis by Benjamin Perrin – This is about the fentanyl crisis happening across Canada, in particular in Vancouver. It’s a very informative read so far.
📚 A Chorus Rises by Bethany C. Morrow – This book has such a different feel/vibe/tone from A Song Below Water. I’m not sure how I feel about this book yet, but so far I’m liking it.
📚 Jonny Appleseed by Joshua Whitehead – This book won this year’s Canada Reads competition. I picked it up because it sounded interesting and I wanted to see why it won. It’s also by an Indigenous author, and I know that I don’t read enough books by Indigenous people. It’s an interesting read, and I can see why it won this year.

📚 A Dark and Hollow Star by Ashley Shuttleworth – I have a hard time formulating my thoughts on this book because I loved it SO.MUCH. I have my full review for this book coming out tomorrow, and my review is already up on The Book Trolley via MuggleNet.
📚 Midnight Sun by Stephanie Meyer – God I hated this book. I was all about Twilight back in my high school days. I have a lot of good memories surrounding the series and there was a lot of nostalgia tied into this book. But did it REALLY need to be almost 700 pages? I used to be ‘Team Edward’ but after reading his inner thoughts and basically, a monologue… I’m Team whoever is the least annoying. This book did get me out of my reading slump though!!

📚 The Minders by John Marrs – I’m a huge fan of his!
📚 Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan – I’m going to be buddy reading this book with one of my managers on the content team on MuggleNet.
I had heard a lot about Midnight Sun a while back as it was a big best seller. I’m glad you put your point of view out there. I feel like I may not have to read that now. My WWW: https://greatmorrisonmigration.wordpress.com/2021/04/14/www-wednesdays-april-14-2021/

I don’t think it really adds anything to the story. The only really good part that I enjoyed was the ending when they end up in Phoenix. That was the part I really read, the other parts I skimmed over.

Yesss to Midnight Sun being way too long. I had a tough time with that one! So glad to see you loved Dark and Hollow Star! I am on a wait list for that one! 🙂

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought it was too long! One of my friends is halfway through, I think she’s at the meadow scene, and she had to put the book down because she was getting bored. My advice is to just skim it. The only really good part was the ending when they rushed to Phoenix, to be honest. A Dark and Hollow Star was so so so good! I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it when you get it!

Yes, I put it down for like a month part way through. I had to then start skimming and just jumping around because it was just too much. I didn’t understand all the five star reads! haha.
Oh, that’s exciting! I’ve seen some people say they were looking forward to it but I haven’t seen many reviews. I think I’m still like 6 weeks out on it.

It was so good! I convinced my friend to read it and to call me as soon as he finishes a section so we can talk about it.

I’ve avoided ‘Midnight Sun’ because so many people have said just the same thing as you. #TeamEdward all the way though! My #WWWWednesdays post is here: https://wordywitterings.com/2021/04/14/www-wednesday-wednesday-14th-april-2021/. Have a great week of reading!

I’m glad I’m not alone. I was confused when I saw it got so many 4 and 5 star reviews on Goodreads!
